Password Retrieval

description

Clean installation of DNN 7.3.2, Clean installation of the AD Provider. On logging in with an AD account you get the following error and are not logged in:

This Membership Provider has not been configured to support password retrieval. ---> System.NotSupportedException: This Membership Provider has not been configured to support password retrieval.

If I log in as Host, I can see that the account was successfully created.

I have this problem too. It seems you can login once with an AD user but all falls apart from then on.

Any resolution?

I managed to resolve this last night.

In the web.config I changed authentication settings to passwordRetreival = true and set the password format to encryption instead of hashed.

You then get a problem on logging in that your hashed passwords cannot be encrypted.
You can resolve this by deleting your users but I didn't want to do that so I updated the passwords in the aspnet_Membership table by running this SQL:

update aspnet_membership
set Password = 'newpassword', PasswordFormat=0, PasswordSalt = ''

This worked and all is good in the world.
